This is the second article of the series. In this part we are trying to further analyse upto what extent WTO is advocating the environmental protection? The pertinent question is whether WTO is at all required to enforce environmental protection mandates? This article is also trying to analyse the possible measures that may be needed to make WTO an environment senstive trade organisation.The ideal situation for an environmental friendly trade is that we must concentrate on the benign principles like:(a) Precautionary Principle,(b) Environment Impact Assessments,(c) Sustainable Developments,(d) Inter-Generation Equity, etc.All these are positive aspect of environmental protection and they help in a holistic and sustainable development of both trade and human beings. The United Nations Environment Programme\'s (UNEP) Millenniem Assessment report makes it clear that what we are doing to the world at the moment is unsustainable. The environmental impact is excessively high. UNEP also points out, in its assessment, that humankind must give \'full value\' to the services which nature provides, if we are to solve this problem. One of nature\'s services which we are busy destroying, are nature\'s carbon guzzlers, the world\'s forests, and this while we continue to make ever more green house gases. The scientists tell us that climate change is the the highest priority of all. If these forests were man made machines, there would be no question that we would be paying real money for the air cleaning services they provide. Because they are the products of billions of years of evolution, incorporating a living technology far far in advance of anything humankind can possibly make, we give them no financial value at all.
